A. A. Milne (1882-1956) was the best selling author of the Winnie-the-Pooh series. This book of children's verses, WHEN WE WERE VERY YOUNG, represents the first appearance of the famous Pooh bear in the 38th poem entitled "Teddy Bear." The book was illustrated by Punch Cartoonist Ernest H. Shepherd. Originally published in 1925, this October 1935 edition is the 174th printing of the title.
